Your Rights Are Important!
A justice of the peace may issue warrants for search and arrest, conduct preliminary hearings, administers oaths, perform marriages and serve as a coroner in counties where there is no provision for a medical examiner. The justice court also functions as a small claims court in civil matters in which exclusive jurisdiction is not in district or county court and the amount in controversy does not exceed $10,000. They can also deal with matters concerning foreclosure of mortgages and enforcement of liens on personal property. In addition, the justice court oversees traffic tickets, parks and wildlife, juvenile/truancy, and evictions.
Hello and Welcome,
I am campaigning for Justice of the Peace in Precinct 2, and would appreciate your support in the 2012 election.
I won’t make campaign promises I can’t keep, but if you vote for me, I will add a new dimension to the office of the Justice of the Peace. In addition to performing the traditional duties of the Justice of the Peace in an unbiased manner, I will sponsor initiatives to strengthen the family, and promote the development for crime prevention programs for kids. Ten percent of salary will be allocated for kids regardless of family income to access and participate in pro social skills' training. In doing so, this could prevent many kids from acquiring a criminal background before they can legally vote, or get married. In these changing times, we must do all we can to secure our children’s future before it is too late.
I firmly believe the courts belong to the people and should be a hallmark of fairness and balance for all who enter the doors seeking justice.
With your help, together we shall make a positive difference in Bexar County. Remember to vote both in the Primary May 29th, and the General Election November 6th.
